CTRL Cloud, The Future of Work: An Interview With One of Our Founders
Nicholas Ferry is one of the founders of CTRL Cloud a company changing how businesses manage their evolving workforce. After serving in the US Military, Mr. Ferry contracted to support surveillance drone programs for USSOCOM. Then transitioned to civilian life as a Security Engineer providing consulting work for Fortune 500 companies. We asked him a few questions about CTRL Cloud and Cloud computing at large
How has your career led you to build a cloud company?
I believed that the way the world was developing, that cloud computing will be the next significant shift in modern computing, and I felt I was uniquely positioned to capitalize on my experience to build a successful product that emphasizes remote workers and business security. With my experience, I knew compliance was a major issue for small business and the medical field. Moreover, I felt a product like CTRL Cloud would resolve considerable problems in these fields while also bringing costs down.
What made you decide to support remote workers?
As we move into the next generation of our world, I believe that traditional office spaces will become obsolete. As more people wish to live away from the hustle and bustle of cities, and as technology and connectivity advance the remote office and workspace have gained in popularity. At CTRL cloud we are a team of like-minded individuals that would instead work from the comfort of our home offices, on holiday in the mountains, sitting on a beach, or commuting on a train. We believe that telecommuting is the best way to promote an excellent work-life balance.
Do you believe cloud computing is the future of computing?
Yes. The traditional employee has been somebody that joins a company at the start of their career and retires from that company in their 50’s and 60’s. As automation & machine learning has advanced the productivity of employees has increased in such a way that companies no longer require as many people. Humanity is at a point that they are more efficient than ever before. Companies cannot always sustain large workforces and must be able to adapt to current workloads and demands. With traditional office spaces, this would require large CAPEX expenditure to have the infrastructure to support peak demand, while that demand may only be present for short periods. With CTRL Cloud, companies can expand and contract with their current need for personnel in a very organic way.
What would you say to businesses thinking of migrating to the cloud?
Use CTRL Cloud! (Laughter) However seriously. We understand that new users can feel overwhelmed with the current offerings in the cloud market. That is why I have made sure to position CTRL Cloud in a way that provides seamless migrations to the cloud to allow companies a simple but powerful product to ensure their business have the tools for their success. I believe every client and potential client deserves peace of mind that current networks don’t provide or are too cost prohibitive to obtain. Over 50% of business experience some form of cyber attack or breach, I want to reduce that number, and CTRL Cloud is my offering to do that. We provide the little guy with enterprise-level security, the big guys with flexibility and save them all money.
How do companies stay up-to-date and connected with CTRL Cloud’s IaaS and HVD’s?
Companies don’t have to stay up to date with CTRL Cloud we do that for them, if they have a particular software that they would like added to a desktop we can push that out for them, we can also give them access to push out software themselves if needed. Regarding connectivity as long as you have a connection to the internet you can stay connected, we have a very low bandwidth requirement which even works over a cellular hotspot. If there are significant issues, we have disaster recovery and business continuity protocols that will keep our clients secure and operational. If a client runs into problems, we have a help desk ready to go 24 hours a day seven days a week 365 days a year to get them going.
Thank You, Nick, for telling us about yourself and introducing Ctrl Cloud.
Now, we all know just how rapidly technology is changing. Moreover what we can learn from Nick’s viewpoint is that mobility is key to future technology. IT security is also a serious matter that many consider unaffordable, confusing, or even unnecessary. However, it doesn’t have to be. Ctrl Cloud’ alleviates user concerns without the purchase of multiple products, learning new technology, or an increase in resources. Ctrl Cloud can revolutionize the way your organization connects to the future today.
